Staff Pick - Sonny

"I love the Corkstone Place mats because they visually connect our mealtimes to our planet. We all know that real food is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, but serving a meal that was lovingly made on plastic place mats feels (and is) ingenuine. Knowing that these place mats come from trees that go on living is an example of sustainable living that we're proud to discuss with our three children. We use these cork place mats at every meal. They're easy to clean by just wiping. Tip: they pair great with the Corkstone coasters for an elegant and unified table setting."

Artist Malloury Dagon's transitional moments do just the opposite. They memorialize something fleeting, making it memorable and momentous. In fact, we can't help but gaze into the canvas.

      Once Upon a Design

There’s a story breaking down the walls of a downtown gallery, and it’s got me thinking outside of the traditional ‘Once Upon a Time.’ This story doesn’t have a beginning, middle, or end, but it is a story nonetheless, and its message is as powerful and enduring as any story you’ve read or heard in your lifetime.

Artist Interview: Angel Ciolko Celebrating HERstory Month

Music and rhythm are apparent in the cinematic ebb and flow of Ciolko’s vibrant female papier-mâché torsos. Each painted in armor and each seemingly poised to lift and carry the walls of her studio into the next room. . . or maybe the next continent. It’s clear that these ladies are not standing still, nor are they waiting for someone to open the door for them. Instead, they have the oomph to open their own doors and, more importantly, open doors for others and give those less powerful a gentle push to get them through their next hurdle.
