As mentioned, I finally had some chances to design and I have a couple of new products to unveil today! First up I was asked to figure out how to print a design on some new cork corkscrews that we recently brought into the store. This appeared to be a bit of a challenge as I had a very small surface area to print on, but I was determined to create a design that made the product not only unique but look like it was made to be there. With the Cork House’s ‘Make it Personal’ mentality in mind, I created a delicate but sophisticated design that allows you to give that personal touch to what would otherwise be an ordinary product. The corkscrew will soon be available for order from the Cork House website and in store.
This week I was also given the task to create a couple of new bathmat designs! I wanted to try my hand and repeating patterns since I was given such a large surface area to print on. Inspired by the wonderful summer time weather, I went with a seashell/beach inspired idea and a tropical plants theme. These will also be available soon on the Cork House Website and in store!
Aside from designing this week I also learned a lot more about the technical things that happen behind the scenes of a business. I was given more responsibility in terms of speaking to customers, charging and processing orders, and shipping quotes. Although it was somewhat stressful, I learned a lot of new things that I could see being an important experience if I have my own business or clients in the future for my own endeavors. I guess that's what interning is all about!
Anyways, thanks for checking back in on my adventures here at the Cork House. Come back next week for another update!
